Areas of Research: Inherently passive devices, Medical applications, Control issues and stability

Additional Information

My group is working about "Computer Assisted Medical Interventions". One of the activity is the development of guiding systems for surgery. A system called PADyC (Passive Arm with Dynamic COnstraints) which is inherently passive allows the surgeon to feel a pre-planned strategy (trajectory, region to stay in, ...) and to guide him during the realization of this strategy. He is completely in control of the action but is helped by the system to guarantee the success, safety and accuracy. A 3 DOF lab prototype demonstrates the approach.
