I completed my MS and Ph.D. in the Laboratory for Intelligent Mechanical Systems, during which time I designed and built a 4 dof haptic display, and helped design and build a 1 dof display. My dissertation is a psychophysical study of the perception (detectability) of localized haptic features such as bumps and scratches. I then worked as a postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Robert Howe of Harvard University developing a vibration feedback system for telemanipulation. I am now employed as an electromechanical design engineer at Computer Motion, Inc., makers of the Aesop robotic surgical assistant.
