What makes a haptic simulation feel good, and/or feel like a particular
real environment? I've studied the basis of perception of high fidelity
(recognizability) in haptic feedback in terms of machine parameters, by
using a high performance device in psychophysics experiments.
Out of this research came an interest in automatic haptic system
identification for the purpose of haptic display; the "Haptic Camera",
started at MIT and being carried on at Stanford, is one example of this.
